I didn’t even know about R4-P17 until my five year old son told me about the “red R2-D2” and how it was the #1 thing he wanted for Christmas.
He had become obsessed with Star Wars LEGOs since around his birthday a month prior, and his favorite toy (which he took everywhere with him) was his little LEGO R2-D2.
Oddly enough, one of his favorite things to do with it was throw it and watch it break apart into its LEGO pieces. So, for Christmas I made him a R4-P17 that he could break apart and easily reassemble.
All of the pieces are held together by magnets, which also allow my son to make fine adjustments in rotating its head and tilting his body.
